In September 2022, Namibia’s mines and energy minister said that discoveries made in the country by Shell and Total could be in the billions of barrels. The two supermajors had been active in the Southern African country for a while, looking for crude and gas despite the rising tide of anti-oil sentiment in some of the world’s biggest consumers.
