China Books Record Oil and Gas Output From Ultra-Deepwater Field

The China National Offshore Oil Corporation has boasted record crude oil and natural gas production from the country’s first independently built ultra-deepwater field dubbed Deep Sea #1. Per Xinhua, the field has so far yielded a cumulative 9 billion cubic meters of natural gas and over 900,000 cu m of crude oil.

This production is set to rise further as CNOOC completes the second phase of the field’s development. That phase would bring peak annual natural gas production at the site to 4.5 billion cu m from 3 billion cu m right now.…
