The European Commission has received enough support from EU member states to impose hefty tariffs of up to 45% on imports of electric vehicles from China, the EU’s executive arm said on Friday, as fears of an EU-China trade war intensify. On Friday, the Commission’s proposal to impose definitive duties on imports of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from China “has obtained the necessary support from EU Member States for the adoption of tariffs,” the European Commission said.
